What we actually do
You count and record the offerings with rigor, you keep the books, you prepare clear reports, you safeguard transparency and the right use of every gift for the mission and those in need. You handle two-person counting, budget tracking, and accountability.
- •Count the Sunday offering in pairs and log the amounts.
- •Enter gifts and expenses and file the week's receipts.
- •Issue tax receipts and thank the donors.
- •Prepare a simple income/expense summary for the pastors each month.
- •Check the balance and track projects (Food Bank, missions).
Commitment: Sundays for counting + 1-2 hrs midweek; about 2-3 hrs a week. Great if you're careful with numbers and discreet.

Faithfulness that earns complete trust
As a slave in Potiphar's house, Joseph manages so faithfully that his master entrusts everything to him without checking a thing. As Egypt's steward, he stores the grain of seven years of plenty 'like the sand of the sea,' with such diligence that they stop counting — and those reserves will save nations through the famine. His faithfulness with what belonged to others made him God's trusted man for a generation.

Integrity that frees the church to grow
When the daily distribution to widows creates tension in the first church, the apostles have seven men chosen — 'of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom' — to administer the resources. Managing tables and funds required the same spiritual qualities as preaching. The result of that trustworthy stewardship: the word of God spread, and the number of disciples multiplied.
What it will grow in you
This ministry forms unimpeachable integrity, faithfulness in small things, and the discretion of one who handles others' money as a sacred trust. It grows trustworthiness and the fear of God in the details.
You develop accounting rigor, a sense of organization and procedure, precision with numbers, and the ability to build clear, verifiable systems.
God entrusts true riches to the one proven faithful with little, and the steward's first requirement is faithfulness: "Whoever is faithful in little is also faithful in much… if you have not been faithful with worldly wealth, who will entrust you with true riches?" (Luke 16:10-11); "it is required of stewards that they be found faithful" (1 Corinthians 4:2).

Proven integrity
Honesty already demonstrated over time, including in one's personal life: in this ministry a single lapse destroys trust that took years to build.
"Capable men from all the people — men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain." — Exodus 18:21
Transparent rigor
Counting accurately, always in pairs, documenting everything: receipts, records, reconciliations — procedures so clear anyone could verify every dollar at any time.
"We are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man." — 2 Corinthians 8:21
Free from the love of money
A content, generous heart that handles God's funds without covetousness or anxiety: you cannot manage the church's money if money still governs your heart.
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have." — Hebrews 13:5
Faithful, discreet steward
Managing what belongs to God and the givers as a sacred trust: faithfulness with small amounts, and total silence about who gives what.
"Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful." — 1 Corinthians 4:2
Honestly: Entry comes only after integrity proven over time, never before: counting always in pairs without exception, absolute confidentiality about gifts, and personal finances orderly enough not to be a temptation — untreated personal financial disorder must be addressed first.
