If worship makes your heart beat, come and see: there is a place for your voice in the choir of the house.
What we actually do
Each week you rehearse songs and arrangements, you lead the congregation from the first to the last hymn, you carry an instrument or your voice, and you prepare your heart as much as your setlist before stepping up. You serve at rehearsals, Sunday-morning soundchecks, and during extended times of worship.
- •Team rehearsal one weeknight (songs, keys, transitions).
- •Sound check and on-stage run-through Sunday, 1 hr before service.
- •Get the song list ahead of time and practice your part at home.
- •Lead one or two worship moments during Sunday service.
- •Short team prayer before going on stage.
Commitment: One to two Sundays a month + one weeknight rehearsal; about 3-4 hrs a week. You can start with just one Sunday a month.

A heart that worships before it performs
A shepherd before he was a king, David first learned to sing for God alone in the fields, then danced with all his might before the ark in front of all Israel. He went on to organize the temple's worship, appointing musicians to praise the LORD day and night. His psalms reveal a heart that carried everything — joy, distress, victory — into God's presence.
Asaph
1 Chronicles 16:4-5; Psalm 73:28
Faithfulness that keeps singing through doubt
Appointed by David as chief musician before the ark, Asaph served faithfully in worship, cymbals in hand, and left Israel twelve psalms. In Psalm 73 he admits his doubts over the prosperity of the wicked — until he enters God's sanctuary and regains God's perspective. He models the honest, long-haul worship leader whose song flows from nearness to God.
What it will grow in you
This ministry forms the humility of one who steps aside so God is seen, and a constant sensitivity to the Spirit's presence rather than to performance. It engraves in you the sincerity of a heart that worships even when no one is watching.
You develop a musical ear, vocal or instrumental mastery, a feel for tempo and collective dynamics, and the art of discerning and leading the spiritual atmosphere of a room.
God inhabits the praises of His people and manifests when they rise as one heart: "But You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel" (Psalm 22:3), and at the temple's dedication the glory filled the house when singers and musicians praised with one voice (2 Chronicles 5:13-14).
What serving here asks of you
Worshiper in secret
Sunday's public worship overflows from a private life of worship during the week; you lead others only where you already go yourself.
"The true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth." — John 4:23
Cultivated skill
Practicing your instrument or voice between services, knowing your parts, arriving prepared: musical excellence is an act of service, not a frozen talent.
"All of them trained and skilled in music for the LORD." — 1 Chronicles 25:7
Submitted team spirit
Following the worship leader, setting aside personal musical preference, blending into the whole: God's glory comes down when the team is one sound, not when a soloist shines.
"The trumpeters and singers joined in unison to give praise to the LORD… then the temple was filled with the cloud." — 2 Chronicles 5:13
Faithfulness in small things
Showing up on time to rehearsals, answering scheduling messages, packing up gear after service: the platform is earned in the invisible details of the week.
"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much." — Luke 16:10
Honestly: No one steps on the platform to be seen: stage-seeking, resisting the worship leader's authority, or skipping rehearsals disqualifies regardless of talent; a voice can be trained, but submission must be proven first.
